Holistic Healing

Sure, so everything I have put together so far could be considered holistic healing, and together it all is. Even individually if it is undertaken to treat the overall issues and not just the symptoms then that could be considered Holistically Healing.

The below are some alternative ways I have found help with my mental health. Be it relaxing me, helping me get my energies in line, releasing my pent up creativity or enjoying the company of others, the below all have a place.

If you enjoy being out in nature, excellent, go take a walk, just you, no music, turn the phone sound off (take it just in case you get lost or stuck though) and just spend time listening to the sounds of nature. The branches cracking and leaves rustling as they move in the breeze, the sound of the dirt under your feet, and if you go near water, listen to the magic of the water caressing the stones. Nature is magical, and spending time out in it is in itself a magical healing experience.

Alcohol ink is a highly pigmented, fast-drying medium used in art and crafts. Composed of alcohol and dye-based colors, it produces vibrant, translucent effects when applied to non-porous surfaces like yupo paper (synthetic material), glass, metal, or ceramic.

Artists often manipulate alcohol ink using various techniques such as dripping, pouring, or blending to create abstract designs or landscapes with stunning color transitions and organic patterns.

Whilst any colouring book is a great way to relax, by finding an adult colouring book the designs to colour in are more intricate, require more colours and yes there are even ‘adult’ books.

Crochet is a craft technique where you use a hooked needle to create projects using yarn (cotton, wool, acrylic, etc). The thickness of the yarn will determine what size crochet hook you will be required to use. It is similar to knitting in that it is a method of creating a project by interlocking loops of yarn, but differs in the tools and techniques.

Crochet can be used to make a wide variety of items, including clothing, home décor items, accessories such as scarf, blankets, lovey toy blankets for babies, and the list goes on. It is a versatile and creative craft that allows you to express yourself through handmade creations.

There are several basic stitches in crochet, and each stitch or combination of stitches create a different texture and look in the project.

  • Chain stitch: The chain stitch is the most basic stitch and forms the foundation for most crochet projects.

  • Single crochet: This stitch is short and dense, creating a tight fabric.

  • Double crochet: This stitch is taller than the single crochet and creates a looser fabric.

  • Treble crochet: This stitch is even taller than the double crochet and creates an even more open fabric.

There are also other stitches, that can create varied looks and patterns in the project, just google crochet projects, the majority of patterns around these days explain or have links on how to do a particular stitch that they outline in their process.

There is a local centre for healing that I have been in touch with over the last 6 months in my area, and they hold what they call retreats at least once a month. These are basically a full day worth of in-depth education, discussion and non-judgmental interactions on particular topics. Last year we ‘reconnected with our feminine’ and got the ‘101 on Crystal Healing’!

If you love learning things, and want to connect back into yourself. You need to find a location near you that offers something similar. Feel free to reach out if you live within driving distance of the Macarthur/Camden area.

If you can find a place that runs the retreats like I mentioned above, they will probably also run what my healing centre likes to call Moon Circles (this is also probably the common name for them, but I do not know).

In 2024, we have been attending these moon circles on the New and Full Moons, to use the energies of these times to manifest our intentions, and release that which not longer serves us (depending on which moon we are under).

There is meditations, great vibes and fire (bans permitting), on the full moon we have a bonfire, to chuck in what we wish to release that is no longer serving us.  The women in my circle are open, enthusiastic and genuinely caring souls.

Feel free to reach out if you live within driving distance of the Macarthur/Camden area. If not, You need to find a location near you that offers something similar. You could google moon circles and your location. I am sure there is something most locations.
